From the steps of the Colorado state Capitol Building, one has a beautiful view of the Civic Center on a sunny Sunday afternoon in March. The obelisk is, ostensibly, a veteran's monument.
Those familiar with the symbolism of Egyptian rite masonry, however, realize that this may be a reference to the obelisks found in Heliopolis, the Egyptian center of sun worship. Similar structures include the Washington Monument in Washington D.C., the 220-ton obelisk known as Cleopatra's Needle (erected by masons) in Central Park, and its sister obelisk on the embankment of the Thames in London. If you ask me, it's just a dick thing.
