This clock tower, at 16th and Arapahoe, was once one of the tallest buildings in downtown Denver.
Family legend has it that a janitor once hung onto my grandfather's belt as he leaned from the cupola to install the Christmas Santa.
It was a dangerous job, but somebody had to do it, and during the Depression there weren't too many ways to make extra money for Christmas presents.
The tower is seen here on a sunny Saturday morning, March 3, 2007.
